MIG/MAG
Fast, productive wire-fed welding for general fabrication, mild steel, stainless steel and aluminium when correctly configured.
Pulse MIG
Better heat control and lower spatter for aluminium, stainless steel, thin sections and higher-quality production work.
TIG
Precise, clean and controllable welding for stainless steel, aluminium, non-ferrous metals and specialist work.
MMA / Stick
Portable, simple and robust for site welding, repair, structural steel and outdoor work.
Multi-process
Useful when the job genuinely requires several processes and process changeover matters more than maximum single-process output.
Material and thickness
- Mild steel: MIG/MAG for production, MMA for site repair, TIG for precise or thinner work.
- Stainless steel: DC TIG or suitable MIG/MAG with the correct wire and gas.
- Aluminium: AC TIG or pulse MIG with the correct wire-feed setup; standard DC TIG will not provide normal AC cleaning action.
- Thicker material and long welds may require higher output, three-phase power, a separate feeder and water cooling.
- Very thin material benefits from stable low-amperage control and an experienced operator.
Power supply
| 110V | Useful on construction sites but limits maximum output and duty. Confirm plug and available current. |

| 230V | Common for compact professional machines. A standard-looking socket may not provide the current a welder needs. |
| 415V | Required for many high-output MIG, TIG and plasma systems. Confirm phase, socket rating and cable run. |
| Generator | Use only a suitably rated AVR/inverter generator and follow the manufacturer’s kVA guidance. |
| Instagrid | Can power selected tools and welding systems; compatibility and expected runtime must be checked from the actual load. |
Duty cycle and cooling
Duty cycle states how long a machine can weld at a stated output within a standard test period before cooling. High-production work, large wire, long seams and hot environments may require a larger machine or water-cooled torch. A headline maximum amperage alone does not show whether the package can sustain the work.

- MIG/MAG shielding gas matched to material and wire
- Pure argon for most TIG work
- Correct regulator, flowmeter and gas hose
- Wire-feed rolls, liners and contact tips matched to wire
- TIG torch, tungsten, cup, filler and remote or foot control where required
- Suitable lead length without excessive voltage drop
- Extraction, screens and PPE
